“Where the rubber meets the road, John Kline lets Minnesota down,” says Sarvi Campaign
July 23, 2008
EAGAN, Minn. – Steve Sarvi for Congress responded today to two related developments from John Kline’s re-election campaign: Kline’s unveiling of a website related to his pledge not to secure federal funding for Minnesota projects, and his expected vote for – and self-promotion regarding – a federal bridge reconstruction law, H.R. 3999.
“John Kline has been ‘functionally obsolete’ when it comes to helping Minnesota get the federal funding it needs for crucial road and bridge projects. He obviously can’t tell the difference between ‘pork’ and key priorities,” said Bridget Cusick, spokesperson for the Sarvi campaign. “Kline’s own spending priorities are clear: Keep spending $10 billion a month in Iraq, give oil companies all the subsidies they want despite record profits, pass on endless debt to our children and grandchildren, and do nothing about the rising health care and college costs that are squeezing Minnesota families.
“On the other hand, Steve Sarvi balanced budgets every year he was a mayor and spent 13 years working together with state, local and federal government to get things done for the communities he served. In Congress, he’ll do the same, fighting for the issues and projects that matter to Minnesotans.”
